4 CLEVELAND CLINIC MARTIN HEALTH BEFORE becoming part of the Cleveland Clinic health system, Martin Health System entered into a cardiovascular affiliation with Cleveland Clinic in January 2018. This affiliation is strengthening all elements of cardiovas- cular medicine and cardiac surgery at the Frances Langford Heart Center through the coordination of patient care, sharing of best practices and col- laboration through research. Cleveland Clinic Martin Health has also wel- comed two Cleveland Clinic cardiothoracic surgeons: Brett Beecher, MD, and Edward Savage, MD. Their Stuart practice can be reached at 772.419.2137 . Dr. Beecher joined Cleveland Clinic Martin Health in January 2019. He was most recently employed at University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. He is a graduate of the hearts University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, and he trained in cardio- thoracic surgery at Loyola Univer- sity Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois. Dr. Beecher has been in practice for six years. What activities do you enjoy outside of your medical practice? I do my best to get to the gym three to four times a week, and the rest of my downtime is spent with family. I have a wife and four chil- dren—ages 8, 4, 3 and 2—so there isn’t a lot of time for other outside activities. What led you to become a cardiothoracic surgeon? From the doctors I was around growing up, I saw them caring for people and making them feel better. So that’s really all I thought about doing from an early age.
